Sunday, we told Faye (Ronnie’s mom) about the New Mexico job. I had wanted to wait till I get an interview, because till then, it’s all fantasy-land anyway. But Ronnie felt we needed to tell her rather than risk people reading my blog and saying something to her at church or in the grocery store. He’s right, of course. Despite my delusion that this blog is “anonymous,” it isn’t and we know we have friends (and family) who read it [Hi, Gladys, Hi, Sharon!]
Faye is, of course, supportive. She got out the atlas to see where Silver City is and we talked for a long time about the job and the town and what it would mean if we left Hattiesburg. We’ll see what happens….
I’ve added a picture of a “bottle tree” that Martha sent me from her aunt. It’s pretty priceless! I’ve got to drink more!
Happy Holidays!
The Bottle Tree is absolutely magnificent. Whose tree is this? What type of bottles? Is the star made of the bottle tops?
It’s my fault. My aunt and uncle sent me a joke email with the picture and I forwarded it to Lin. Alas, Kathleen, I cannot find the original attribution. If you look in the bottom right corner, you can see that there is a garbled URL. It looks like http://go.funpic.?u. I’m pretty sure of the go.funpic part but cannot figure out the country code on the end. There doesn’t seem to be a server behind any of the logical candidates. So, you questions must remain unanswered….
So, Kathleen, the Christmas Bottle Tree lies in your capable hands!
Elissa, yes, the secret was “out” to John & Eileen among the first. After all, they are our beer-drinking buddies! I spent some time over there on Friday, gathering persimmons and sipping coffee and catching up with them while Ron was out gallavanting around the southern part of the state. All seems well with them. We were sorry to miss you at Thanksgiving — again! Take care and thanks for tuning in . . .
